Thrisha Sukesh: Making Fort Worth More Dementia-Friendly

Trinity Valley School · SIP, Spring 2025

Thrisha shares how her grandfather inspired her to help Fort Worth become a more dementia-friendly city.

When Thrisha's grandfather was diagnosed with dementia, she noticed how little her community understood about the disease. Through her project, Generational Connect, she took action on two fronts: rallying students at her school, and partnering with Dementia Friendly Fort Worth to certify local businesses. Her work earned recognition from the Fort Worth City Council.

In this episode, Thrisha talks about getting other teens to care, refining her pitch to businesses, her bilingual outreach at health fairs, and an honest look at balancing it all with school.

Her advice: "Be the one who's doing it."
